Maternal Health

Maternal Health
Maternal health refers to the health of women during pregnancy, childbirth and the postnatal period (WHO). Each stage should be a positive experience for women but unfortunately that is not usually the case. Maternal mortality is unacceptably high with about 287 000 deaths recorded in 2020 of which Sub-Saharan Africa alone accounted for around 70% of maternal deaths (WHO).
This is why WCI is partnering with individuals, organizations, NGOs and the government to enhance maternal health in Nigeria and Africa at large and consequently reduce the maternal mortality.
